Congratulations! If you are reading this, then you are a proud Indian and even a prouder citizen, of the first city of India – Delhi, apni dilli. The city of smiles, (laughters), thahatkian da shahr.
Well, it is almost certain, that some people like you, who have left the shores of Delhi and have migrated to Canada, and have some how, not been able to take the memories of Delhi out of your lives. We know that! You were missing Delhi. So were we. Jaisi bhi thi, par thi, apni Dilli, saadhi Dilli!
When we could not bear the separation, we thought of visiting Delhi every week, but that was not feasible. Every month! No, that too was not possible. So what did we do? We thought of meeting a few Dilliwalas. Now, if we could meet a few Dilliwalas, why not more and more often, and why not give this ‘meeting of Dilliwalas’ a name. Yes! That’s right. It was then that Dilwale Dilliwale was born.
Dilwale Dilliwale was born on February 14th, 2003. Initially, it was ‘a little’ challenging for us to explain the concept to all Dilliwalas and tell them that, how serious we were about, Dilwale Dilliwale. Today, more and more Dilliwalas want to join Dilwale Dilliwale. Our family now boasts of more than five hundred members. Yes! More than 500 Dilwale Dilliwalas. Yes, in Canada another Dilli is born. (Sitting in Canada, we have got Delhi).
We have rekindled the spirit of Delhi, and Dilwale Dilliwalas know and feel it all. Paranthe Wali Gali to Nathu ke Bhature Chole to the Traffic Jam at Dhaula Kuan to the spirited day of 15th August. All the memories are fresh in our hearts. It all brings back those days when we were so much into being Dilliwalas.
Well, do not despair, with your support, we have made a very bold effort to revive the fond memories of Delhi and we hope to take your Dilwale Dilliwale to every corner of the world.
We do not only profess to be Dilwale Dilliwale, we intend to prove ourselves worthy as such of our name. As we grow in size and stature, we plan to open a window for extending monetary or some other form of assistance or help to the needy people back home at ‘Aapni Dilli, or here in Canada or elsewhere. We also intend to extend the field of our activities by opening a full fledged club where in we, our families and kids can have a sense of belonging and can feel embedded to their rich culture.
Dilwale is a very young association. Members come from every walk of life. Top professionals, business people, servicemen and others give us perfect constitution.
One of the intents of our mission is to support the blind people in Delhi and with your cooperation, I am sure we will be able to do it sometimes very soon.
Dilwale wishes to make every event, fun filled family event and so far we have been able to keep up to your expectations.
As the famous Sanskrit saying goes, “Vasudevo Kutumbh kam”, which means in English the world is one family. We are one family.
